In an exclusive interview with Big Bells Digital, Valentina shares her unique journey from dance enthusiast to DJ extraordinaire, revealing the inspirations behind her melodic and deep house creations.
(1) Hello Valentina. Thank you for joining our Big Bells Digital interview sessions. Can you tell us about your journey as a DJ? What inspired you to start mixing music and when?
Hello and thank you for inviting me to this interview! My journey as a DJ began not so long ago, but I have been in love with music for as long as I can remember myself. I went to piano lessons for three years during school, and after that, dancing appeared in my life. I studied dance basics, my body, and how to hear music for 8 years, so I was truly passionate about it all. When I was 15, I found out about electronic music festivals like Sensation, Kazantip, Tomorrowland, UMF, etc. I found a connection in the music of DJs like Martin Garrix, Kygo, Avicii, etc. I was so impressed by the energy of these events, their artists, and the happy faces of people from all over the world. As soon as I turned 18, I flew to see my favorite artists perform once a year. It is such a great memory for me. Because of all the world changes after 2019, I didn't have the opportunity to go to foreign festivals anymore. And I think it’s the main reason why I started DJing myself. My taste in music expands every day because I always leave the house with my headphones on, and I enjoy digging for new music. That's why I started to create playlists. I always create a combination of different tracks I want to listen to depending on my mood and enjoy it while driving to work, reading a book, or whatever. One day I thought, why not make a mix and share it with people of what I like so much? That's why I recorded my first funky house mix on YouTube, and the positive response really shocked me. I'm very glad that so many people listen to my mixes. Music is my favorite language of communication, and for me, that "success" means that I am not alone with my feelings in this world.

(2) Your preferred style of music is melodic and deep house, right? Could you share what draws you to this genre and how you incorporate it into your mixes?
I consider the melodic and deep house to be the best genres for immersing myself in my thoughts or feelings, contemplating something, or daydreaming. This genre is like a good friend with whom you can simply sit quietly. However, it's not my absolute favorite genre, but one of them. Creating mixes in this genre is an opportunity for me to craft a story based on the emotions and lyrics of the tracks.
(3) Mixing music in beautiful locations seems like a unique aspect of your channel. How do you choose these locations, and how does the environment influence your creativity while mixing?
Locations for recording my mixes have always been secondary to creating a new set. In fact, on my channel, there are only two mixes recorded in a new location for me, while the rest mixes I simply recorded at home. But I would like to have the opportunity to travel and record mixes in absolutely different beautiful places that our planet is full of. The chosen location doesn't significantly influence the creativity of the mix, as I plan them in advance. I am most creative when I am alone with the music, mainly at home.
(4) What are your plans for this year? Can you share insights about your next mixes or some interesting locations you plan to visit?
If my life followed a specific plan, I would definitely share this news. However, at this stage of life, I enjoy embracing and implementing ideas in the moment. So, even I can't predict what mix awaits us next. But my recent musings are mostly connected with nature.
