About the Artists: Chris Sterio & Matt Black
(Big Bells) Hey Chris, after almost a year you’re returning to Big Bells Records. How has the past year been for you and your label, and what do you value most about releasing music on Big Bells Records?
Hi Big Bells, yes, it's nice to be back on the label after releasing 'Freedom' (with Downgrooves), Sauron (with Xiasou & Hernan Torres) & Movement to Zen (with Stan Seba). Big Bells Records are always good for releasing some the cooler underground music so it made sense to sign 'Housefeelings' to the label. BBR have a very good track record of developing artists, and do some cool stuff with all the new types of multimedia that are used to promote music these days. 2025 was a year where I released lots of new artist material, whilst on Soundscapes Digital it was a year where we put out mainly back catalogue compilations, as well as some newer material. So much good music is missed due to the volume of music released these days, sometimes tracks only get noticed after multiple releases or compilation inclusions. I also continued with my 'Peak Atmospherics' mix series via Soundscapes Digital, plus some mixes for Another Life Music in Switzerland and playing some gigs locally on Port Erin Beach for the Deep South Festival crew on the Isle of Man. For 2026, I will be continuing on many of the aforementioned projects so hopefully we will have a tidy year!
(Big Bells) Hey Matt, this marks your first release on Big Bells Records. Is this also your first collaboration with Chris Sterio? Can you tell us more about how the collaboration started and whose idea it was to work together?
No, this is not the first time we have worked together. Chris and i have known each other for a long time, and I did a few remixes for him for his old Source of Gravity digital label. One day, Chris approached me about working together on a track. He would provide some vocals and synths and then i would take those ideas and add some of my own, which I would then use to create a track. That first collaboration was Jupiter rising which came out on Suffused. We then went on to do another one (Space Funk), which was released on Mirabilis and proved to be rather popular! Since then we have done more collaborations and even worked with other vocalists such as Simon Latham and Daniela Rhodes. Our last collaboration, Acoustic pleasure, was released last year on Balkan Connection, which featured a remix by Michael A, which got a lot of plays.

Hellpass Remix: A Deep House Perspective
(Big Bells) Hey Hellpass, you’re widely respected for your long-standing contribution to the scene. How does it feel to return to new music through this remix, and what motivated you creatively while working on it?
It certainly feels like it’s been a while since I released my first record all those years ago; I think the last Hellpass 12” was back in 2015. I never stopped making music following that, but I have been focusing on other projects and live work rather than releasing anything digitally. Chris has kindly released a couple of my EPs over the last year or so on Soundscapes Digital. It always feels good having a new release ready to go, and I’m excited about this one as it’s part of a great overall package of mixes. For the Hellpass mix I wanted go for something up-tempo and driving but with a swingy, kind of Kerri Chandler deep house vibe.
We love music! Let's work together ❤️
