In an ever-evolving UK electronic music landscape, few collectives hope to carve a lane as distinct and emotionally resonant as Oscura Music. Based in northern England, this forward-thinking brand promises to become a staple for lovers of melodic and progressive house—known not only for its expertly curated lineups but also for its dedication to storytelling, connection, and community on the dancefloor.
Ahead of their highly anticipated launch event on 26 July, featuring scene veterans DJ Ruby and Kamilo Sanclemente, we caught up with the minds behind Oscura Music to talk about their vision, what makes their events stand out, and how they’re building something meaningful beyond the beats. From nurturing local talent to hosting global names, Oscura continues to bridge underground passion with professional production—creating experiences that linger long after the final track fades. Let’s dive into the conversation.
Interview with an Oscura Music Promoter from the UK.
(1) Hey guys, thank you for joining us on this interview. Oscura Music has hosted a range of top-tier melodic and progressive house artists—what’s your vision when curating a lineup, and what made DJ Ruby and Kamilo Sanclemente the perfect fit for your 26 July event?
At Oscura Music, our vision when curating a lineup is to create a sonic journey that resonates deeply with our audience—emotionally, rhythmically, and atmospherically. We aim to blend established talent with emerging voices in melodic and progressive house, always prioritising artists who bring depth, storytelling, and authenticity to their sets. DJ Ruby and Kamilo Sanclemente perfectly embody that ethos. Ruby’s connection with the crowd is unparalleled—his decades of experience, passion for the scene, and support for up-and-coming talent align beautifully with our values. Kamilo brings a signature sound that’s rich, melodic, and emotionally charged—his productions consistently strike that perfect balance between groove and atmosphere. Together, they complement each other and promise an unforgettable night on 26 July.
(2) The UK has a diverse electronic music scene—how do you ensure Oscura events stand out and attract a loyal, music-savvy crowd in such a competitive environment?
Absolutely—the UK’s electronic music scene is incredibly rich and diverse, which is both inspiring and challenging. At Oscura, we focus on curating a deeply immersive experience, not just a party. From the music to the visuals to the energy in the room, every detail is intentional. What really sets us apart is our commitment to quality and authenticity. We book artists who are not only technically brilliant but who also tell a story through their music—artists who resonate with a crowd that truly listens. Our audience isn’t just there for a night out—they come for the journey, the connection, and the sense of community we foster. We’re also passionate about helping the northern England scene thrive—especially in cities like Leeds and Manchester. These places have such a rich musical heritage, and we believe they deserve just as much spotlight in the melodic and progressive house space. That’s why we’re focused on bringing both top-tier up-and-coming talent and respected, established artists to our events—bridging the gap and creating something truly special for the local community.
(3) For aspiring promoters and collectives looking to build a brand like Oscura, what key lessons have you learned from running events, and what advice would you give about growing a community around a sound?
One of the biggest lessons we’ve learned is that building a brand like Oscura takes time, consistency, and a real passion for the music. It’s not just about throwing events—it’s about creating a space where people feel something deeper. The sound you stand for needs to be clear, and everything you do—from your lineups to your visual identity to how you interact with your crowd—should reflect that. For us, staying true to our roots in melodic and progressive house has been key. We’ve resisted the urge to follow every trend, and that’s helped us attract a loyal, music-savvy community that trusts our vision. Your crowd will grow organically if you focus on quality over hype. Another important lesson is the power of relationships. Build strong connections—with artists, venues, visual designers, and most importantly, your audience. When people feel included and part of the journey, they’re more likely to stick around and support what you’re building. And finally, patience is everything. The early events might be tough, but if you believe in the sound and stay consistent, the community will come. Focus on the long game.
(4) Beyond the 26 July event, what can fans expect next from Oscura Music—any exciting plans, new venues, or artist debuts on the horizon?
Absolutely—we’ve got a strong run of events lined up after 26 July, and we’re really excited about what’s ahead. On 16 August, we’re back in Manchester hosting an exclusive B2B set from Zankee Gulati and Mike Rish, alongside EMPHI—it’s going to be a deep, driving night of progressive sounds.
Then on 11 October, we return to Leeds with legends Dave Seaman and John Cosani. That one’s especially exciting for us—it’s a mix of heritage and forward-thinking artistry, which is exactly what Oscura is all about.
Finally, on 8 November, we’re back in Manchester again with Maze 28 and Analog Jungs. Both acts are pushing a really fresh, melodic sound and we’re proud to give them a platform as they continue rising in the scene.
