Tebra: The Return of DAMAR and His Latest Release "Slow"

Updated: Sep 3

Reinstating DAMAR: A New Chapter

Hello Tebra. Thank you for joining us for this interview. You’ve recently reinstated your label Damar and released your new track Slow there. What inspired you to bring Damar back, and how does this new phase reflect your vision for the label?

I started Damar because I wanted complete freedom to release my music. Bigger labels are often selective when you send them tracks. This freedom allows me to express my artistry without constraints.

Upcoming Artists and Collaborations

Can you share more about what kind of artists and sounds we can expect from Damar in the coming months? Are there any exciting releases or collaborations in the pipeline?

I’ll focus on my own music to start with, but since I’ve made many artist friends throughout my career, you can expect some well-known names to appear on DAMAR soon. This collaboration will bring fresh sounds and diverse influences to the label.

Finding Inspiration in Music

Your music has always been described as an honest exploration of emotional sound, blending organic and Afro House elements beautifully. How do you find inspiration for your work?

I’d say I’m doing my best to honestly translate my feelings and experiences into the music I create. I’m quite selective when it comes to blending sounds and textures from different cultures. This selectivity is probably why I don’t release music too often. I believe I should be 100% satisfied with a track before sharing it with the public.

Exciting Performances Ahead

Are there any personal projects or upcoming live performances you’re especially excited about this year? Maybe something fans should definitely look forward to?

Besides the revival of DAMAR, which will be my main focus over the next year and beyond, I’ll also be performing at a number of festivals this summer. EXIT is definitely one of them, along with Overlake Festival in Slovenia, and several more events across Russia, Croatia, Turkey, Bali, Portugal, and beyond. I’ve also recently added a drum pad to my DJ performances to keep things more dynamic — both for myself and for the fans attending my live shows.
